Hello Sandy Point Dredge Committee Members,
This is to update you on the status of our permit application and our response to Whatcom County’s third NOAR (Request for Additional Information).
When we were presented with this request in late July we immediately contracted our coastal engineering and biological consultants to complete the needed information. We made minor modifications to the dredge plan and have submitted our response to the County this week. They have told us they are reviewing our submissions.
Many of you wrote letters and emails and made phone calls to our County officials and this has definitely made them more aware of how important the dredge is for public safety. We expect the County to process our permit application quickly so we can get approval to move ahead with completion of the actual dredging this winter.
Responding to the County again has resulted in significant costs which we had not anticipated. We are reaching out at this time to ask you to seriously consider making another financial contribution so we can complete our work. Also, please reach out to your friends and neighbors and ask them to make a contribution.
We will update you as soon as we have any more information on the status our permits from the County and Corps of Engineers.
